“Perhaps all the dragons in our lives are princesses who are only waiting to see us act, just once, with beauty and courage. Perhaps everything that frightens us is, in its deepest essence, something helpful that wants our love.”
Rainer Maria Rilke

The things that bring us to therapy can feel enormous, terrifying even. But in my experience, the scariest parts of ourselves aren’t actually monsters. They’re more like a frightened kitten, hissing and clawing because they don’t yet know they’re safe. With the right kind of patience and gentleness, those parts quiet down. They soften. And that’s where the real work, and the real relief, begins.

My People

I work with adults and couples navigating some of life’s harder moments. My clients often come in carrying anxiety, ADHD, relationship struggles, family-of-origin wounds, or the weight of past trauma. Many are navigating more than one of these at once. What they have in common is a readiness to do something about it.

My approach is built on a simple belief: you are the expert on your own life. I’ve spent years training and doing this important work, and I’ve gathered a lot of tools and resources along the way. But ultimately, my job isn’t to hand you a roadmap or tell you what to do. It’s to create a space that feels safe enough for you to access your own inner wisdom and start trusting what you find there. Because at the end of the day, I believe we are all doing the best we can with what we have.

My Story

When I was 12, I was diagnosed with cancer. What followed were two and a half years of chemotherapy, and a life that would never quite look the same again. When treatment ended, I assumed things would go back to normal. They didn’t.

I struggled to make sense of everything I had been through, and for a long time I didn’t reach out for help. When I thought about therapy, I imagined therapists as these untouchable, magical people who couldn’t possibly understand why life still felt so hard after everything I’d survived. By the time I finally did seek it out, my only regret was that I hadn’t done it sooner.

That experience is with me every time I sit across from a client. I know what it feels like to be vulnerable in front of a stranger. I know how hard it is to say the quiet parts out loud. And I know that every single one of us deserves care and support as we navigate the messy, complicated business of being human. At my core, I’m just a human trying to build meaningful relationships with other humans.

My Training

I received my Bachelor’s degree in English from Middle Tennessee State University and my Master’s in Social Work from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. One of my favorite things about being a therapist is that there is always something to learn. Outside of my time with clients, you’ll find me reading, listening to podcasts, and seeking out continuing education opportunities.

In my practice I draw from a client-centered foundation, weaving in tools and principles from ACT, CBT, and DBT depending on what each client needs. I think of it like collecting tools so I can tailor the work to each person and their individual goals. For clients who are drawn to creative expression, we might lean into that as a way to go deeper. For clients who want more tangible solutions, we’ll work together to identify potential paths forward and figure out what’s been getting in the way of change.

At the heart of it all, the relationship between therapist and client is the most important part of the process. I see it as a true partnership. I bring the tools, but you bring the expertise on your own life and experience.

For couples, I’m trained in Gottman Level 1 and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). What strikes me most when I work with couples is that most of the time, both people are genuinely doing their best. Often there’s a communication breakdown or something that’s just not clicking, but when both people want to do better, there’s so much space for understanding, kindness, and compassion. Helping couples find that space is some of my favorite work.
