Fees & FAQs
Rates
Let’s talk numbers.
At Therapie, we offer both 50-minute and 80-minute sessions for individuals and couples, according to what feels most supportive. Our rates range from $138–248 for 50-minute sessions and $238–398 for 80-minute sessions, depending on the therapist.
Don’t get us wrong, though—a lower rate doesn’t indicate that a therapist is any less skilled or capable. Every therapist at Therapie is hand-selected through a rigorous hiring process, ensuring a strong alignment with our values and the ability to actually go there with you.

Getting Started
Getting matched with a clinician at Therapie can be a coordinated process or a choose-your-own adventure.
If you’re unsure of where to begin, then may we introduce you to our Client Care Coordinator, Emmaline, who you can contact with some basic information about what you’re looking for. We’ll then reach out to you with some potential matches based on your presenting concerns. It’s better than Tinder, though, because with us, you get to have a free consultation with any therapist of your choice before getting started.
Would you rather D-I-Y? Meet our team and find out more about who might be a good fit for what you’re looking for, then reach out to get scheduled for a consultation.

FAQs
Our therapists tend to be a good fit for professional, high-functioning adult individuals and couples navigating life’s complexities. While we specialize in a range of evidence-based approaches and individualize therapy to each client’s unique needs, we’re likely to incorporate behavioral therapies, grounding techniques, skills-based approaches, and insight-oriented perspectives to nurture growth and change.
At Therapie, our commitment to you doesn’t end when the session does. We don’t just meet you in the therapy room—we stand beside you outside of it, offering support, resources, and real tools to help you navigate life as it happens.
Our practice philosophy centers around these guiding questions: What is happening and why?, Where do you want to go?, and How do we get there? We’re not here to needlessly “sightsee” what’s going on in your life, but rather offer you actionable, concrete tools for change. Drawing on your unique strengths, insights, and goals, we view every session as one step towards locking into the life you really want.
Additionally, aside from our ability to support you in real time throughout the therapeutic process, we’re pretty stoked about our exclusive, 24/7 resource hub, The Akademie, which offers:
- On-demand tools and worksheets to support growth between sessions
- Insightful videos tailored to the challenges of busy professionals
- Expert-led lectures on topics like stress, relationships, and purpose
- Fresh monthly content to keep your progress moving forward
We’re not just a therapy practice, we’re your partner in building a life that works for you.
Like a lot of therapists out there—close to 80 percent!—we operate as an out-of-network provider. This means we don’t bill insurance directly and clients are expected to pay for sessions at the time of their appointment.
However, many of our clients qualify for partial to full reimbursement from their insurance provider depending on their specific plan, and our team is available to assist in selecting the plan that offers the best coverage. We’re always happy to verify your benefits ahead of time so you know what’s possible before getting started.

Therapist-client fit is undoubtedly one of the most important parts of this work, which is why our consultation process is designed to give you a feel for the person you’re working with before diving in.
Aside from the general ~*vibe*~ you get during the consultation, we’ve created some additional guidelines for choosing the right therapist. This one is for individuals, and this one is for couples.
Bear in mind that if the first person you meet with doesn’t feel quite right, it’s totally okay; we will work with you to find a better match.
We are a different kind of practice—and we mean it. Our therapists don’t see this work as just another job but as their life calling. We are not armchair experts who will just sit, listen vacantly, and take notes like you’re some kind of zoo animal; we will go there with you, becoming an invested partner in making the changes you want to see.
Equipped with our three guiding questions (see above), Therapie is sure to guide you on a journey that offers lasting change.
If we had a nickel for every time we worked with a client who was entirely new to therapy, well let’s just say we’d have a Therapie team yacht by now. We love working with clients who are new to the process because we are huge nerds about what we do—and we think it’s really great you’re prioritizing your mental, emotional, physical, and relational health.
We promise to make this process as un-intimidating as possible, and we will be transparent in our work together every step of the way.
Our therapists aim to be flexible, often setting their schedules according to need and offering both in-person and virtual sessions. For the most part, sessions take place Monday through Friday with a range of morning, afternoon, and evening options, though some of our team members have limited weekend spots.
Make sure to discuss availability during your consultation, and your therapist will try to get you scheduled accordingly.
Both are available. Whether you’re looking for in-person, virtual, or hybrid support, we want to provide therapy in a format that makes sense for your life.
We try not to make therapy a “rules” thing, and there is never a set timeline for how long this process will take. Each client responds differently to treatment, and the duration of therapy will depend on severity of symptoms and how effectively coping skills can be implemented.
A good general rule of thumb is to expect at least 8 to 10 weekly sessions to get started. This will allow you to build momentum and a solid foundation with your therapist. After all, Rome wasn’t built in a day, and sustained healing takes time. After a while, you and your therapist may decide that you’re ready to move to bi-weekly or monthly sessions with the ultimate goal of creating a cadence and duration of therapy that actually nurtures lasting change in your life.
We accept all major credit and debit cards, as well as FSA and HSA cards. You’ll be able to securely add your preferred payment method to your personal client portal in Simple Practice, our scheduling and billing system.
Your card will be charged automatically after each attended session, so there’s nothing you need to do on your end. If you ever need to update your card or have billing questions, just reach out — we’re here to help!
All About Insurance
At Therapie—like over 80% of therapists nationwide—we operate as an out-of-network provider, which means that we don’t bill your insurance directly.
That doesn’t mean you’re out-of-luck, though; a lot of our clients qualify for partial to full reimbursement of what they pay for a session if their health plan includes out-of-network benefits (particularly for mental health). Our estimates are that clients receive 25–80% of their session costs back. And we’re here every step of the way to help you navigate the process.
Why Work with an Out-of-Network Therapist?
Being out-of-network allows us to focus on what matters most: YOU. Without the limitations and annoying red tape that usually come with in-network coverage, we’re able to tailor your therapy experience to fit your specific needs—not what some dude at an insurance company thinks you qualify for.
Out-of-network support often means:
- More personalized, flexible care tailored to your needs and goals — not insurance limitations.
- More availability — including early morning, evening, and intensive session options.
- Deep expertise and training, because our therapists are free to invest in ongoing education and specialization without being limited by low insurance reimbursement rates.
- Fewer hoops to jump through, meaning we can focus fully on your growth, not navigating the hellscape that is the American healthcare system.
How Reimbursement Works
Navigating insurance reimbursement can be a total headache sometimes, but we’re here to help make it simple and straightforward. Here’s what the process typically looks like:
- Pay for Your Session Up Front
After each appointment, your card on file will be charged. We accept all major credit and debit cards, as well as FSA/HSA cards. - Request a Superbill
Let your therapist or our Client Care Coordinator know you’d like to receive superbills once you get started. At the beginning of each month, we’ll email you a detailed superbill showing the services you received during the prior month — essentially a professional receipt for your insurance company.
*Note: In order to generate a superbill, your therapist will assign a mental health diagnosis code (more on that below). This is required for insurance reimbursement.
- Submit Your ClaimYou’ll submit the superbill to your insurance provider, either through their online portal or by using a third-party app like Reimbursify, which simplifies the process.
- Your Insurance Company Processes the ClaimOnce your claim is received, it will be applied toward your out-of-network deductible. After that deductible is met, your insurance will begin to reimburse you based on what they call the “allowed amount” — that’s the portion of your session fee they consider eligible for reimbursement (which may sometimes be less than what you paid). You’ll receive a check or direct deposit with your reimbursement amount, usually within a few weeks to a couple of months.
**A Note on Diagnosis Codes
To use your insurance for therapy, your therapist will need to assign you a mental health diagnosis code. This is a standard part of the reimbursement process and doesn’t change the care you receive. However, having a diagnosis on your record can potentially affect future coverage for things like life or disability insurance.
If you have concerns or questions, we encourage you to speak with your therapist directly during your first couple of sessions.
